The webinar was led by the Vice President of Partnership and International Relations, apt. Syifa Amirta Sani S.Farm, alongside the Director of Partnership and International Relations Department Mr. Lukmanul Hakim, Director of Business Advisory Mr. Supriya Lelana, and featured key insights from notable Russian figures in trade relations. Mr. Timur Efremov, the Russian Federation Trade Representative, served as a Senior Expert, as well as Mr. Aleksandr Masaltsev, Chief of Trade Mission, who provided valuable perspectives on market dynamics and investment strategies. Their contributions enriched the discussion, offering participants a well-rounded view of the opportunities and practical considerations involved.

As the fourth most populated country in the world, with a health state budget of USD 12.1 Billion, health expenditure of USD 70 Billion and an annual growth of 12.0%. These numbers then became attractions for foreign players to enter the Indonesian market and compete with their innovations in medical devices and pharmaceutical products.
The webinar also addressed regulatory aspects and product registration processes critical for market entry. Detailed information was provided on navigating Indonesia’s regulatory framework, which is essential for ensuring compliance and facilitating smoother entry into the market. All kinds of medical devices produced in other foreign countries outside Indonesia are under the AKL (Alat Kesehatan Luar Negeri) category and have to obtain the Marketing Authorization License for Import Medical Devices. The registration process for these products has to be done by a local distributor who owns IDAK (Izin Distribusi Alat Kesehatan - Medical Device Distribution Permit) and CDAKB (Cara Distribusi Alat Kesehatan yang Baik - GDP of Medical Devices Certificate), or through a license holding agency. All of these regulatory provisions are stated in the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 62 of 2017 on Medical Devices, In Vitro Diagnostics, and Household Health Supplies. This regulation is designed to safeguard public health by ensuring that only safe and effective medical devices are available in the market.
Finally, the session covered potential challenges that Russian manufacturers might encounter in the Indonesian market.
