All kinds of medical devices produced in other foreign countries outside Indonesia are under the AKL (Alat Kesehatan Luar Negeri) category and have to obtain the Marketing Authorization License for Import Medical Devices. The registration process for these products has to be done by a local distributor who owns IDAK (Izin Distribusi Alat Kesehatan - Medical Device Distribution Permit) and CDAKB (Cara Distribusi Alat Kesehatan yang Baik - GDP of Medical Devices Certificate), or through a license holding agency. All of these regulatory provisions are stated in the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 62 of 2017 on Medical Devices, In Vitro Diagnostics, and Household Health Supplies. This regulation is designed to safeguard public health by ensuring that only safe and effective medical devices are available in the market.
